We saw our first Alpacas in the early 1990’s and fell in love with them. Our friends used to laugh when we talked of our dream of owning some but when we acquired land next to our home in the heart of Kent our dreams became a reality.

Our first Alpacas bought in 1997, were two young males and three pregnant females. Now the herd consists of over 300, both Huacaya and Suri, with stud males from Chile, Peru, Australia and top herds in the UK.

With over 23 years of experience we can offer practical advice. We have deliberately kept our herd to a medium size so that we can care for the animals ourselves. Knowing all of our alpacas individually puts us in an excellent position to give our customers a very personal service when selecting stock or stud males. We also pride ourselves on our full back up after sales advice and service.

The Lightfoot herd is a closed herd. We selectively breed for conformation, size and colour, and are currently working to produce a heavy cutting fleece with a finer fibre.

In 2009 we started an internet company to supply the everyday needs and items for alpaca owners with our business partner Philip O’Conor.
